6am class with coach J Fox. Basic DROMs and a warmup of three rounds of 10 strict pullups, 10 PVC HBBS. Then we did group barbell warmups for the clean and jerk. Today’s strength work was a complex and we had 15 minutes to work up to a heavy single.
Power Clean, Push Jerk, Split Jerk:
- 1 x 135lb
- 1 x 155lb
- 1 x 175lb
- 1 x 195lb
- 1 x 195lb *FAIL*
I was prepared to stop after the first successful attempt at 195, but we had time for one more shot and since my push jerk was kinda slow and I pressed it out, I went for it. The push jerk was better on the last attempt, but then I failed on the split jerk. Don’t think I rested enough. All the cleans felt like warm butter though.
- 12 DB Bench Press (80lb)
- 20 Pulls on the erg for max cals (19, 22, 23)
Phew. We did this super-set style, so we moved right from the BP to the row. I fizzled out on the last set of BP and only mustered 7 reps. Felt like I got hit by a garbage truck after this one.
