Review: Gymboss Interval Timer

Gymboss Interval Timer

I use the gymboss every time I do a timed workout. It’s a tiny, versatile timer that I keep in my gym bag and is probably the single most valuable training tool that I own, so it gets the full five stars.

Like a cell phone, you can set it to beep, to vibrate, or to do both when the interval is up. There’s a dual timer function that allows you to set different work/rest periods, which I use for timed intervals (jump rope, heavy bag, pad work, sparring rounds, and of course tabata intervals). I also use the single timer for GPP workouts, minute drills, Fight Gone Bad style workouts, and anything where I’m rotating exercises at a set time. Of course there’s also manual mode, which counts down from a set time - perfect for AMRAP workouts where you’re working for a predetermined time period. Oh yeah, and it only costs $19.95!

Update: I lost my old one and had to get a new, next generation Gymboss. The newer ones have a stopwatch feature now, which is a nice update.
