Tiet Sien Kuen by the Old Stone House. Cooling down after my sprint session. Feeling good but missing the connection tonight. I sometimes feel harried when trying to squeeze in these late workouts and don’t give them my full attention like I should. I’ll work on that.
Did my own thing tonight and worked through all of the hand forms. Spent some time on each one and didn’t really feel rusty. Finished up with 100 pushups. Nice to finally get a decent sweat in.
Missed out on my class for the week since I had to come home for damage control related to the tornado that ripped through the neighborhood. Settled in by the Old Stone House after my run for a little Tiet Sien Kuen for tonight. Felt pretty good and really ramped up the power by the fourth section tonight. Feels good to do this after a workout.
Led the fellas through a quick warmup and got into some core training and kicking. The goal was to burn out the obliques with a lot of medicine ball twisting motions and then move into roundhouse kick practice so everyone could connect that the power needs to come from the waist. After that we got into some crane techniques.
A little Tiet Sien Kuen by the Old Stone House on this beautiful night. Took it nice and easy to start with but built up to some power in the middle sections. I haven’t been very consistent with my practice but it felt really good tonight.
Started things off with a partner-based warmup: 100 pushups, 100 situps, 100 squats as a team of two, only one person can work at a time and the partner “rests” in the plank. Did some stance and basics training then went into a tiger claw technique for the night. Finished with a pushup party.
Pretty standard class warmup, some basic technique drills, then into the fun stuff for the day. Led the guys through some partner drills and spent a little time working Ji Mo Seung Do after class.
Super quick warmup of 10! pushups, squats, situps to save on time and then into some hand techniques. Worked with partners and with the pads and got a decent sweat. Did a bit of Ng Ying Kuen afterwards. I love that form.
Cooled down after my run with a little Tiet Sien Kuen. I hate to practice in running shoes, but I had limited options tonight. Focused on cooling down and releasing the chi. I was actually steaming at times, which is unusual when the weather is so hot.
Ran through a standard warmup and some bridge training before working on some hand techniques tonight. We worked on a few techniques to defend against grabs - chin ji sau and taking the horse to the stable from Gung Ji. Had a mixed crew but everyone was getting the hang of it by the end of class.
Out by the Old Stone House for a little Tiet Sien Kuen after my run. I was originally planning on regulating and relaxing, but the chi was flowing well and the power just came. Felt pretty good.
Took the class through a standard warmup followed by some basic drills and stance training, then into forms. I got to do a little work on my hand forms here and there, but spent most of my time teaching today.
Small class tonight. I got in early to run through Tiet Sien Kuen and work on Ng Lung Ba Gwa Cheung a bit. Did a decent pushup/slug crawl/situp warmup and some stance training before going into the technique.
Standard warmup followed by some stance training and stuff. Helped the fellas with their forms but I didn’t get too much work in for myself. I didn’t have a ton of time and wanted to get a conditioning workout in since it was nice and hot.
After the warmup we ran through the beginning section of Gung Ji with some rings a few times, then a couple of times without rings. Straight technique work after that and I spent some time working my hands and forearms on the gravel bag.
