There Will Be Sweat

Probably some blood too. No tears though. Never tears.

This is my training log.

Kung Fu practice

Trying to settle my mind and push out the evil chi from my body. Ran through Tiet Sien Kuen focusing on relaxing and calming my energy. I already feel better and more clear headed.

Kung Fu class

I made the class do a burpee-based warmup today, since I just did 100 before class and then got into the regular stance and technique work. We built on some stuff we were working on and partnered up with it. After class I worked a little Ji Mo Seung Do and Ng Lung Ba Gwa Cheung.

Kung Fu class

Decent size class tonight. Ran them through a standard calisthenics/stance/bridge training warmup before going into forms. Helped a few of the intermediate guys on ji mos after class and did a little Ji Mo Seung Do work myself.

Kung Fu practice

After my interval training session, my shoulders were so tight that I needed to get some of the evil chi out. Ran through Tiet Sien Kuen with light power and focusing on releasing and relaxing. Felt better afterwards.

Kung Fu class

I ran the fellas through a warmup today and got the blood pumping. Malcolm took over and went over some great techniques then we worked on Tiet Sien Kuen after the beginners took off. Didn’t get a great sweat, but got the chi moving nicely.

Kung Fu class

Ran the fellas through a quick, intense warmup, did some skill work, and moved onto some serious power techniques. Pretty good progress and I even got a bit of a sweat going.

I ran the guys through a decent circuit warmup to maximize training time, then we drilled stances and worked some conditioning drills before going into techniques. Hung around and did a little Ji Mo work afterwards.

Kung Fu practice

After performing many forms for her this morning, Mayor told me that I need to work on Fu Hok Seung Ying Kuen, so I did just that. I worked the entire form, but I focused on the ten tigers and crane sections and ran through each one 10x. Felt aight.

Kung Fu class

Ran the beginners through a standard warmup and some very basic drills tonight. Afterwards Sihing Malcolm taught some more advanced hand and elbow techniques and I sat in on it. Not a very sweaty night.

Kung Fu seminar

Pole seminar taught by Sigung at the NJ branch today. It was an action-oriented seminar and we spent most of the time drilling the techniques and applications we were taught. Really good stuff.

Kung Fu practice

Started with a light run-through of Tiet Sien Kuen, barefoot of course. I felt aright, but wasn’t going for full power. After that I ran through Ji Mo Seung Do a few times, sans the ji mos.

Kung Fu class

Small class tonight. I ran them through the standard warmup, drilled some basic kicks, did some bridge training, and worked on forms. Got a decent sweat, but couldn’t stick around as long as I’d have liked.

Kung Fu practice

I headed out for some morning practice by the Old Stone House today. I kicked things off with Tiet Sien Kuen, as I tend to do. After that I worked on Ng Ying Kuen since I had some space to really open it up. To make sure I took full advantage of the space, I ran through the leopard section 20x.

I was dressed for winter when I started but I gradually shed a few layers and was just wearing my kf pants, a shirt, and gloves when I was done. What a nice day!

Kung Fu class

Nice, crowded class today. Standard warmup followed by some basic drills, then we went into some hand techniques. I was the odd man out partner-wise, so I spent a lot of time bashing my forearms on the gravel-filled sandbags after I drilled the techniques with the heavy bag.

Ali got jealous that I practiced with Dave in my basement the other day, so he came over and we did the same thing - ran through every hand form including Tiet Sien Kuen. We actually managed to do TSK side by side at the same time. Felt good.
