Today was Memorial Day Murph:
- Run 1 mile
- 100 Pullups
- 200 Pushups
- 300 Squats
- Run 1 mile
Time: 1:06:00. This is my least favorite kind of workout and I was dumb enough to wear a 20lb weighted vest, which made it even worse. Partitioned the work as 5 pushups / 5 pullups / 5 pushups / 15 squats. The pushups and pullups weren’t bad at all, but those squats killed me. I was also out in the sun for the first half, which was sapping my strength like kryptonite. After I moved into the gym (next to the fan), things started to pick up a bit. I also couldn’t have done it without an assist from DH3, who brought me some water when I was ready to drop dead, and Edgar, who was cheering me on the whole way. I seriously would have quit without that. I finished the first mile in ~7:30, the second in ~10:00 (there was some walking involved). Totally drenched with sweat by the end and totally exhausted.
Another sweltering day in the school. Did some rope skipping with double under practice and Ng Ying Kuen work before class. We did 5 rounds of Cindy as a warmup for the class (5 pullups, 10 pushups, 15 squats), but not for speed. Then we went into some combo work with the mitts, some forearm and leg training and finally into light sparring. Did I mention it was hot as crap?
I must be crazy trying this on one of the hottest days of the year:
- 10 Burpees
- 20 Med Ball Slams
- 30 Lateral Jumps
- 40 Pushups
- 50 Squats
Repeat 5x 4x
I finished 4 rounds in 23:12. Holy fucking shit. I just couldn’t make it through 5 rounds. Aside from an unhealthy amount of sweat (I was already at an 8 when I started this workout), it was just way too uncomfortable in the school. It sure did feel good to get out in the cool rain after this one. On the train ride home I also realized that it looked like I pissed my pants because the sweat had soaked through my drawers and was showing through my jeans. Hallo!
